PARKLANDS FC UNVEILS NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM IN BID TO BUILD FOR LOCAL GLORY

Communities along the West Coast were stunned on Wednesday after club founder, Nick Meyer, announced the new management team at Parklands Football Club.

Alongside the club’s new chairman, Imraan Morgan, Meyer has named ONE FM 94.0 Station Director, Stacey Robertson, as Head of PR & Marketing while forer Ajax Cape Town coach, Noel Cousins was unveiled as Director of Football.

It was the appointment of Cousins which really caught local football by surprise as news broke of his inclusion in the Parklands FC management team. Cousins, who has coached at Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellebosch, is no stranger to the local football community having coached alongside the likes of Roscoe Krieling and Matt Haywood, and will undoubtedly bring about a sense of professionalism to the Parklands local football community.

“Noel’s CV is so impressive, it will leave your mouth open in awe of everything,” Meyer told his club’s social media manager in a post to announce the news.

Nick Meyer (left), Noel Cousins (center) and Imraan Morgan (right) will lead Parklands Football Club into 2021.

He continued: “From playing for Moroka Swallows to coach at Ajax, Sundowns and Stellenbosch University he has worked right down to six and seven year olds and was one of the first to be involved with the Ajax Soccer Schools when they launched their first clinics at the Sunningdale complex.”

Given his impressive football experiene, it’s expected that Cousins will bring changes at the club resulting in a more professional approach from the coaches to the players. It’s expected his experience will also further assist the club in ensuring it offers the best football experience to members aged 10 to 18 as Meyer believes that’s where they develop the most.

In a more strategic move, Meyer has opted to trust Morgan with the daily running of the club and believes the former Vasco da Gama coach and administrator has enough learned-experience under his belt to do the job of Club Chairman.

“He’s been with us six weeks and already he’s making some incredible changes,” Meyer said. “He’s one of the best people in Football and is a guy we can trust to build the structure in our club and organise our philosophy over a five year period ahead.

“Imraan has organised the Engen [U17] Tournament for a number of years at Vasco da Gama and knows exactly what’s expected of an administrator. His involvement at Nova Nacional was also a big reason for their succesful launch into the public domain”

Now with support in the administration, Meyer will look to work closer with his new Marketing & PR Manager who sees the potential in the club and will aim to bring corporate sponsorship to the table while working with local government officials to better the community of Parklands and the kids that love the beautiful game.

Robertson said via the club’s social media that she was so excited she couldn’t wait to get stuck in: “I cannot sit still in this new post. I want to make a difference in this world and my love for children shows when I am on the field, walking around and greeting everyone.”

Meyer is no stranger to controversial but epic decisions and will stop at nothing to make his football club the best in the West. The outspoken founder always has a trick up his sleeve and we’re sure to see more coming from Meyer, Robertson, Cousins and Morgan who’ll be assisted in the administration by the club’s secretary, Camillah Morgan.
