In another surprise move, on the eve of their first competitive fixture of the new season, Parklands Football Club founder, Nick Meyer, has shocked the football fraternity once more; this time announcing a groundbreaking sponsorship with Volkswagen Table View.
“At our club, we’re committed to bringing in change and thinking out of the box,” Meyer said. “We have given our naming rights over to one of the best brands in our area, VW Table View.”
The deal, an undisclosed amount over the coming months landed by the club’s new Marketing & PR Manager Stacey Robertson, brings a high quality brand and family environment to the table and is exactly where Meyer and his new management team want the club to be.
And while most might revert to calling them ‘VW Parklands’ instead of ‘VW Table View Parklands FC’, the most dramatic part of the deal is actually the club’s newly adopted colour – aligning to that of the Volkswagen brand.
Speaking of the clubs new deep-blue colour choice and branded kit, Meyer said it adds to the sense of new beginnings at the club: “We’ve brought in Imraan Morgan as the new Chairman and Noel Cousins as the Director of Football. Taking on the deep-blue Volkswagen colours is just a small part of what’s coming”.
This is a big move from a very ambitious club founder but time will tell whether or not the bumper deal pays dividends in the long term or it becomes a distant memory in the years to come.
